If using Windows 10 Pro or higher you can edit group policy settings to turn off auto-update. If windows updates fail or get interrupted they re-try over and over. Even a fully patched Windows machine updates its built in Virus definitions when turned on. Also by default windows 10 acts as a 'peer' or server to other windows machines on the internet and serves them updates too using your bandwidth! Some settings can be turned of via control panel -> windows update. If you don't have the latest builds, updates can be >1GB in size. Windows PC's: Windows (especially Windows 10) likes to download its updates by default as soon as you turn it on.We have HomeFusion and have to constantly monitor usage.
